Associate Center for UNESCO-Asia-Pacific Program of Educational Innovation for Development (APEID)

UNESCO APEID (Asia-Pacific Program of Educational Innovation for Development) Associate Centers at Zhejiang University was established in 1982 and it is one of the earliest UNESCO APEID Centers in China. Prof. WANG Chengxu, one of the founders in comparative education in China, has severed the first Director of the Center.

Under the support and guidance of the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, and Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, the Center has successfully organized various conferences, syposiums and seminars and participated in the relevant APEID events held in the Philippines, Thailand and India, etc. The Center devotes itself to promote the exchanges and cooperation between China and UNESCO, and promote the innovation and development of basic education. According to the UNESCO’s priorities and the actual demands in China, the Center carries out research and promotion of projects, such as “Basic Education for the Children of Rural-Urban Migrant Workers”, “Establish an Action Research Mechanism to Promote School Innovation and Development”, “Environment, Population and Sustainable Education (ESD)”, “Movement Policy of Basic Education Teacher”, “Connecting and Transition between University and Secondary School”, “Promoting Teacher’s Professional Development with Action Research” and “Higher Education Qualifications Framework”.

The Center is based in College of Education, and the director of the Center is Prof. KAN Yue.
